Danielle Krysa, the voice behind “The Jealous Curator” is a mixed-media artist, curator and author of several books such as “Creative Block” and “Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk.” Read below to get to know Danielle more and learn about the inspiration behind “The Jealous Curator” and her work. If you haven’t already, sign-up for her  “Using Art as a way to Make Lemonade”  workshop where Danielle will provide different prompts and jumpstarter projects inspired by her books, and teach us all how we too can make lemonade out of the pile of lemons we’re currently sitting in.

Danielle will be hosting this workshop LIVE on Tuesday, March 31st at 7pm EST. All proceeds to these workshops will go to supporting Danielle and her fellow instructors.

When did you start making art?

My mom says I was just a little over 1 year old… so basically, my whole life. Granted their was a 15 year hiatus after the horror that was art school, but I really got going again in 2015.

When did you start The Jealous Curator and what inspired you?

February 2009. I started it for myself as a way to turn the jealousy I was feeling toward other artists into something positive. I never intended to have readers, it was really just for me... I’m so happy they all showed up though!

How does being an artist influence your choices as a curator and author?

I genuinely admire everyone I write about from the perspective of being an artist myself. In fact, my original tagline used to be “Damn I wish I thought of that”, which is pretty self-explanatory! That said, a few years ago I changed it to “Turning jealousy into get-your-ass-back-in-the-studio inspiration ~ Since 2009”.

What are your favorite materials and tools to use when making art?

Old books, found objects and LOTS of thick acrylic paint! ps. I apply most of my paint with a wooden cheese knife instead of a paintbrush. True story.

What are you most excited about for your workshop?

The Q&A! There is so much insight in the questions that come up in these situations - and if one person asks it, there’s a good chance ten more people are thinking about the same issue/subject. There are always lots of aha moments for all of us!
