Amber Vittoria is a New York-based illustrator whose work focuses on the portrayal of femininity and the female body in art. Read below to learn more about what inspires Amber to create. If you haven’t already, sign-up for her “The Sake of Drawing” workshop where Amber will lead participants through three drawing prompts that address the idea of letting go of perfection.

Amber will be hosting this workshop LIVE on Wednesday, April 1st at 7pm EST. All proceeds to these workshops will go to supporting Amber and her fellow instructors.

When did you start making art?

I began drawing when I was a child but realized I wanted to pursue art as a career and life path when I was a teenager!

What inspires your style and subject matter?

My work is inspired by the women in my life - family, friends, and the women I pass by on the street (when we aren't social distancing!) and the women I read about.

How do you personally address the idea of “perfection” in your practice?

It's taken quite some time, but ridding myself of the idea of perfection within my work is important, as everyone's 'perfect' is different based on individual experiences.

What are your favorite materials and tools to use?

I predominantly work digital first, then print and apply details by hand with ink!

What are you most excited about your workshop?

Drawing in interesting and uncomfortable ways is such a great way t break from your day - so excited to be drawing with everyone during this time of physical distancing!
